Just For Corvettes Club History

Just for Corvettes (JFC) is a Sacramento, California, based Corvette social club interested in promoting the use and enjoyment of Corvettes by attending automobile racing events, car shows, rallies and fun runs to interesting places with other Corvette enthusiasts.

JFC became a club in August 1996 when several members of an Auburn, California, based Corvette club decided that sufficient members lived in the immediate Sacramento area to justify their own club.

The original members of the club were Kenny Yerkes, Jim and Debbie Nance, Sharon Roloff and her friend Sharyn, Joe and Vickie Sanchez, Fred and Janine Fenton.  Joe Sanchez, in addition to being a founding member, also is credited with naming the club.

The initial meeting place for the club was Lacey’s Grill in Rocklin, but the club soon outgrew Lacey’s and moved to T-Bones on Madison Avenue.  The club later moved the meeting place to T-Bones on Arden Way, then to Sudwerk's German restaurant on Expo Boulevard.  In October 2002, Sudwerk’s closed its doors.  Since that time, JFC has met at Coco’s on Arden Way, Memphis BBQ off I-5 and Richards Blvd., McGee’s Bar & Grill on Sunrise Blvd. which then became Barbacoa’s, N Zone in North Highlands, and El Torito’s across from Arden Fair Mall.  We now meet at El Coyote Junction on Jibboom Street (off I-5 and Richards Blvd.) in Sacramento.

Kenny Yerkes served as the club’s first President during 1996 and 1997, and was succeeded by Fred Fenton for 1998, with Bob Martina serving as the Vice President. Fred Fenton resigned in early 1998 and was succeeded by Bob Martina, who then served as President for the remainder of calendar year 1998, with Jim Hudson serving as Vice President. Jim Hudson served as President for 1999, with Jim Vollstedt leading the club for 2000.  Larry Herrback served as President of the club during 2001 and 2002, and was re-elected to the post for a third term in 2003. Then in 2004, JFC had its first female President, Diane Hussey and our Vice President was Bill Reeder.  Bill and Diane “traded” places for 2005 with Bill as President and Diane as Vice President.  Joyce Taylor, was voted in for President in both 2006 and 2007 and our Vice Presidents were Debbie Nance and Jim Nance for 2006 and 2007, respectively.  For 2008, Jim Nance was our President and Melvin Clouser, Vice President.  Our 2009 Board has been voted in and is led by Melvin Clouser as President and Debbie Nance as Vice President.

Gary Becton was one of the early members, and helped the club through the incorporation process that was completed in March 1998.  Membership during the early years was sparse, with the original club consisting of only 9 members.  Our largest membership was in July 2003 when we had 117 individual members.  Today, we have 42 members with 26 vettes – a great group for you to enjoy MORE ‘VETTE' FUN with!
